BREAKING: Edo deputy governor, Odubu escapes assassination

The Edo State Deputy Governor, Dr. Pius Odubu, Saturday, escaped a deadly assassination attempt.

According to reports, the Deputy Governor, who has been having running battles with his principal, Governor Adams Oshiomhole, narrowly escaped being killed when he visited the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Auchi, Edo State.

We gathered that seven of his aides sustained injuries and presently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Benin City.

Sources say that the incident happened shortly after Governor Adams Oshiomhole and Odubu left a function (Party) organised by Barr. Damian Lawani, a member of the State House of Assembly representing Etsako Central Constituency at Udaba Ekperi, ETSAKO Central Local government Area where Akhigbe SA to Governor on Protocol prevented the delegates from receiving The Deputy Governor at the Chairman’s house.

The Gunmen invaded the venue of the Campaign at the Local Govt APC Secretariat and opened fire on the Deputy Governor and the People at the venue. Seven persons were critically injured including the deputy Gov escort commander and an SSS official attached to him. They are currently receiving treatment at Fate Medical Center in Auchi.

It would be recalled that Odubu, has been locked in a controversy with Oshiomhole over claims and counter claims of assassination attempts. The Governor was reported to have accused his deputy of contracting herbalists to kill him, a claim Odubu denied.
