It was reported last week, that Apostle Johnson Suleman, founder of Omega Fire and Miracles Ministries had issued a cease or die order to Governor Nasir El Rufai over his controversial bill which seeks to restrict preaching activities in Kaduna State.
We had obtained a 1.50 minute video which showed the fiery preacher saying, “I am saying this specifically to the executive governor of Kaduna, revoke this law or die!,” has the preacher denounced El Rufai’s renewed push to institute a bill regulating religious preachingWe have obtained the long-version of that clip (watch at end of this story) which shows Suleman’s preamble to the cease-and-desist order. In the recording, obtained by The Trent, Suleman is seen speaking on the pulpit of his mega-church in Auchi, Edo State on March 13, 2016. The cleric says that the bill proposed by El Rufai is against the constitution of Nigeria and it infringes on religious freedom in Nigeria.
“I want to place a curse on those who fight the gospel,” Suleman opens in the video.
“I hear that in Kaduna, now, they have released a circular that churches will not play musical instruments from so so time to so so time; bring it” he beckons on an an aide who brings some papers to him. The Apostle reads some part of the document which says the a preacher in Kaduna must obtain a license and that offenders would earn a 2-year jail sentence.
“You see, if they are talking about regulation, it means appointing a chairman. Who will they appoint?” The cleric asked.
“Their own! You see their strategy? They will appoint a chairman who will make it difficult for the church, but easy for the mosque.
“I want to warn the governor of Kaduna State. Now, if you feel I am running my mouth, ask questions,” he said referring to his Kogi prophesy on the just concluded governorship elections in which he predicted the death of politicians who attempt human sacrifice for power.
“When it comes to mosque, they give them a very good area, when it comes to the church, they throw you somewhere… You can’t fight the gospel,” Suleman declared.
“The truth is, if you don’t trouble us, we don’t trouble you. We are not trouble-makers. If you don’t trouble us, we don’t trouble you. But if you feel you have power that is transient… What nonsense!
“We have been men of God before you became governor. Even after you leave as governor, we will remain as men of God,” he declared before addressing pastors.
“So, it is important that you, as a pastor, make sure your hands are clean. Make sure your hands are clean. Make sure your hands are clean,” he said with emphasis.
“I am saying this because if we don’t stop this nonsense in Kaduna, some stupid people will now want to extend it. It won’t work,” he declared.
Then the Mount Carmel moment comes, “If we are joking, if we are playing… I would like all of you here to put your ears down and hear what will happen. Except you want your [El Rufai] cabinet to reduce. You will just see some people sleeping and not waking up.
“Then you will know there are certain laws… that you have stepped on the last nerve of the church.
“There are certain laws that cannot stand,” he declared.
“Many times I have read in the papers how he [Nasir El Rufai] abused Jesus and Christians came after him and he said that they are joking, ‘Nothing can happen’,” Suleman told an elated congregation. “I am talking to you, Kaduna Governor.”
“Listen, I am not against sanitizing a state. But you say people should get [a] licence for preaching; it is not applicable in Nigeria.
“Even a herbalist does not get a license for practicing herbalism. When you say license for preaching, then you are standing against the constitution that says freedom of worship.
“I have no problem, we can test powers now,” he declared as his congregation erupted in emotion.
“There are certain laws that cannot happen in this country. Not when Nigeria is under God. If need be, over this matter, heaven will intervene.
“I am saying this specifically to the executive governor of Kaduna, revoke this law or die!,” he announced.
On Thursday, March 10, 2016, Suleman took to microblogging website, Twitter, to send a stern messageto Governor Nasir El Rufai of Kaduna State with a set of tweets.
El Rufai has recently put forward a bill which would regulate religious preachings in the state. Many observers say that the bill is targeted at criminalising Christian preaching in the state.
Apostle Johnson Suleman is founder of Omega Fire and Miracles Ministries, a fast growing prophetic ministry based in Auchi in Edo State. He is a motivational and faith preacher who is popularly known for his prophetic declarations on Nigerian issues, newsmakers, and nations.
Last year, Suleman made the news when his prophetic declarations on the Kogi elections appeared to come true when Audu Abubakar who was leading in the polls, died suddenly of unknown causes. He went to to claim that he predicted Audu’s death in an earlier video which went viral.
